Dr. John Morearty will speak tongue-in-cheek about books, following the theme of this year's Big Read. "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury examines the future, where society burns books. John Morearty is the author of "Walking to Omega: Tales of a Peacenik Carpenter."
Kenneth D. Ackerman
May 29, 7 p.m. Stockton Civic Auditorium, North Hall
Kenneth D. Ackerman, writer and attorney in Washington D.C., is a 25-year veteran of senior positions in Congress, the executive branch, and financial regulation. He will direct his remarks to the history of civil liberties and individual freedom, the likes of which are covered in "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury. His will also discuss his lastest book "Young J. Edgar: Hoover, the Red Scare, and the Assault on Civil Liberties."
